The small complex of apartments at O Farol are ideally situated for families wanting to be close to the sea. Right in the centre of Caroviero; sandy beaches, shops and restaurants are all less than 200m away - making this an ideal choice for those wanting a car-free holiday. Carvoeiro was once a sleepy fishing village but has grown steadily in recent years to incorporate the flourishing tourist trade. This village has maintained much of its essential charm; helped by the fact that is has grown outwards and not upwards. The local fisherman still sail the seas everyday and bring home their catches to sort in the harbour. The small, sandy beach has water sports on offer in summer, but can sometimes become quite crowded in the height of the season. However, there are many sandy beaches nearby for those who like a quieter scene. The beachfront is lined with many bars and restaurants as well as small supermarkets and boutiques. Away from the beach, the cobbled streets of the Old Town are lined with quaint shops selling local crafts and market stalls full of fresh, local goods.
